Chelsea have signed another central defender. The Blues officially announce the winter transfer of French centre-back Benoît Badiashile. Badiashile will sign until 2030 and cost a reported 38 million euros a year and a half before his contract with AS Monaco ends. the FT-affiliate site Foot Mercato was able to report early on about the negotiations.

Badiashile is Chelsea’s second winter signing after centre-forward David Datro Fofana (20/Molde FK). Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos (18) is to follow. The traditional club from London is clearly initiating a squad rejuvenation.

At 21, Badiashile fits into this concept. The French international (two appearances) stands out even among the Grand Nation’s many defensive talents. He has made 16 appearances for Monaco this season.
