The former presidential candidate blasted the Twitter boss’s remarks that pension reform was “difficult, but fair”.

His reaction will not be long in coming. As he marches through the streets of Paris this Saturday alongside youth organizations against pension reform, Jean-Luc Mélenchon castigated Elon Musk’s recent statement, saying he was in favor of the government’s project.

“Choose your side. Capital or labor,” tweeted the former presidential candidate.

This is a direct response to the tweet published this Friday evening by the boss of Twitter and Tesla who believes that “Macron is doing the difficult, but fair thing”.

“The retirement age of 62 was set when lifespans were much shorter. It is impossible for a small number of workers to support a massive number of retirees,” he added.

“A class reform”

Before the response of the rebellious former leader, several of his colleagues at LFI deplored the words of the American billionaire. “If you still doubted that retirement at 64 was a class reform…”, declared Manon Aubry, MEP member of La France insoumise.

Same story for Antoine Léaument, LFI deputy, who said that “a reform supported by a billionaire is ALWAYS a bad and useless reform”.

The current pension reform project provides for the postponement of the retirement age from 62 to 64a measure contested by all the unions, most of the opposition and a large part of public opinion.

After a major mobilization Thursday at the call of the unions, a new demonstration is organized this Saturday in Paris by a dozen youth organizations, actively supported by La France insoumise.

Moreover, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who will participate in the rally, referred to it in his tweet. His words were accompanied by the hashtag “Marche21janvier”.
