In the series “Dead to me” actress Christina Applegate (51) played the widow Jen Harding, who has a dark sense of humor and low inhibitions.

In the third and final season of the comedy series, however, viewers could no longer laugh. It was clear: the actress is not doing well.

And indeed, the 51-year-old made it public in 2021: She suffers from multiple sclerosis (MS). A neurological condition that attacks the nerve fibers in the brain and spinal cord, making everyday life difficult. For example, Christina was unable to walk properly due to pain.

This was also shown when she was given a star on the honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Applegate was only able to walk to her star plaque with a walking stick and the help of fellow actress and TV mom Katey Sagal (69) from “A Terribly Nice Family”. She did not wear shoes, also due to the pain.

Now her illness is even forcing her to withdraw from TV. In an interview with the “Los Angeles Times”, the mother of one daughter says that the next “SAG Awards” will probably be her last. “It’s probably my last awards show as an actress, so it’s a big deal.”

She adds, “Right now I can’t imagine getting up at 5 a.m. and spending 12 to 14 hours on set.”

In terms of health, THAT would probably no longer be possible. Already for On the Netflix set of “Dead to me” she was driven in a wheelchair and gained 18 kilos.

Currently nominated for her role as Jen in the comedy series, Applegate attends the awards ceremony and then turns her back on the camera.

But that’s not the end of Hollywood! In the future, Christina would like to work as a voice actress in order to continue earning money. “So that my daughter can eat and we have a home,” she explains.

At the age of 51, the actress is not yet retired!
