In August 2021, Christina Applegate (51) shared the news that she has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
Now she reveals that the upcoming Screen Actors Guild award could be a milestone in her career due to the illness. The distribution starts on 27 February.
– It’s probably my last award ceremony as an actor, so it’s a bit of a big deal. Right now, I can’t imagine getting up at 5 a.m. and spending 12 to 14 hours on a set; I don’t have that in me right now.
The actor says so in a new interview with Los Angeles Timespublished Tuesday.
Her sixth nomination
The actor, who recently finished the last season of the Netflix series “Dead to me”, has been nominated for the “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series” award. This is her sixth nomination ever.
Applegate further stated that she finds it difficult to watch the last season of the hit series, as she does not like to see herself struggle.
– I also gained 18 kilos due to inactivity and medication, and I didn’t look and feel like myself.
– At one point I managed to distance myself from my own ego, and realize how beautiful TV was. All the scenes I wasn’t in were so much fun to see and experience for the very first time.
Do voice-overs
The actress goes on to say that she does a lot of “voice-overs” to earn money to ensure food on the table for her daughter and that they get to keep the house.
The disease affects the brain and spinal cord, which can include symptoms such as weakness in the legs and body, fatigue, loss of vision, speech difficulties and dizziness.
