CNBC: Trump Pleads Not Guilty to New Charges in Classified Documents Case

Former President Donald Trump pleaded not guilty Friday and waived his personal appearance for a new arraignment in his criminal case over classified documents he allegedly withheld at his Florida mansion.

Trump entered his plea of not guilty and waiver of arraignment in federal court.

The new indictment added charges related to an alleged effort to cover up surveillance video that would show attempts to hide classified government records he kept at his Mar-a-Lago mansion in Palm Beach. Trump was originally accused of withholding those records. Those charges are still in effect.

Trump and his aide, Walt Nauta, a co-defendant in the case, were due to be arraigned on the new charges Thursday in federal court in Fort Pierce.

So far, Nauta has not entered a guilty plea and has not waived his right to appear in person at the new charges.

Trump pleaded not guilty Thursday at his arraignment in federal court in Washington, DC, in a separate case charging him with four felony counts related to his effort to overturn the 2020 election results.
