CNH attentive to multiple systems in the Atlantic

Tropical storm Franklin moves south of Puerto Rico this Monday and, although there is no notice or warning for the island, it will leave heavy rains, thunderstorms and electrical storms in its wake.

According to the 5:00 am bulletin from the National Hurricane Center (CNH), the storm was located 245 miles south of the Dominican Republic and was carrying maximum sustained winds of 50 mph, at a speed of 12 mph.

The system will track west-northwest at 12mph and turn northward late Monday. It would strengthen further in the next 48 hours.

The Dominican Republic is under a storm warning.

TROPICAL STORM GERT FORMS

On the other hand, the CNH reported that tropical storm Gert formed in the Atlantic. The system has 40 mph winds and is moving at 9 mph from west to northwest. Although the NHC describes it as a “short duration” storm, it was indicated that it develops quickly. There is no notice or warnings.

TROPICAL STORM EMILY FORMS

Tropical Storm Emily formed in the Atlantic on Sunday and is expected to downgrade to a post-tropical cyclone soon.

According to the 5:00 am bulletin this Monday from the National Hurricane Center, the storm was located 1,165 miles west-northwest of the Cape Verde Islands, and was carrying maximum sustained winds of 40 mph, at a speed of 12 mph.

There are no warnings or coastal surveillance. The movement is expected to continue for the next few days. Emily is likely to become a post-tropical remnant low by Tuesday.

On the other hand, the CNH is monitoring a system in the Atlantic, in the eastern Caribbean with a probability of development.

According to the agency, it has a 40% probability of development in 48 hours and 70% in seven days.
