Like anya posthumous album produced by EGREM, brings together for the first time in a phonogram some of the songs that became famous in the singer’s voice Lourdes Torres.

“This album has 17 songs, 16 of which Lourdes wrote and a bonus track by her friend and excellent composer Silvia González Guerra, where most of the songs were well-known songs by Lourdes,” said Yunier Díaz, executor of Lourdes. Lourdes Torres, in a report on Cuban official television.

“There are some that were sung so little that they were almost a premiere on the record, a compilation was made of what could be saved the most, because there was a lot of music recorded many years ago that could not be left with the quality it requires”, abounded.

“I am completely convinced that people are going to enjoy it a lot,” he concluded.

This Tuesday, the release of the album will be accompanied by a concert at the Centro Hispanoamericano de Cultura in Havana, where various performers will sing songs from Lourdes.

Torres, one of the most famous female voices in Cuba, passed away in August 2017, in Havana, at the age of 77after a long illness.

His decision to leave his musical heritage to Díaz, his caretaker and family friend, raised, shortly after his death, controversy among the closest relatives of the artist, especially his daughter, Lourdes Libertad.

The also singer refuted these statements through her Facebook profile and clarified that her family agreed with the decision. “Neither my children, nor I, nor my grandson, need that money, obviously Yunier does need it,” she said.

“I have been enduring all Yunier’s atrocities for four months, precisely because I am an artist, because I have class; but make no mistake, ”added Libertad, who accused Díaz of profiting from tributes to her mother to collect more royalties for copyrights.

For his part, Yunier denounced on social networks that, during the last years of his life, the singer had been transferred to an apartment with terrible hygienic conditions, where he lived with two caregivers, two dogs and a cat.

Torres was born on April 29, 1940 in Guanabacoa and her career began in a big way when she was praised by Ernesto Lecuona for her warm voice with a velvety tone.

Her triumph as a songwriter side by side in popularity, along with Annia Linares, Mirtha Medina, Beatriz Márquez and Farah María, occurred since the early seventies, with the song “It was so that I forgot you”, which triumphed in the contest of the Musical Creator and which marked the seal of several songs by Lourdes Torres in terms of personal reaffirmation in the face of the failure of a relationship.

Already in the eighties, the author contributed to the immense popularity of Annia Linares when she allowed her to cover “Como cualquier”, a kind of feminist hymn typical of the Cuban and international ballads of the eighties.

Other of his most popular songs were “I know that woman”, “A new feeling” or “I will not deny it”.
