The concept of Too Hot To Handle: Germany

It’s the hottest abstinence show on Netflix: “Too Hot To Handle: Germany” puts the self-discipline of singles to the test.

Ten German-speaking candidates are shipped to a tropical paradise. The candidates only know beforehand that they will be on a dating show for the next four weeks. They only find out that it is the one where sex is forbidden, of all things.

From kissing to masturbating, any violation will result in a deduction from the prize money. French kissing on the US show costs $3,000, and sexual intercourse a whopping $20,000. An expensive affair.

How much is physical proximity worth to the candidates? Because: If the sex-hungry singles can’t keep their hands off each other, the prize money of 200,000 euros can quickly disappear.

Candidates pair up and take part in workshops designed to strengthen their bond. They are monitored around the clock by the supercomputer “Lana”: This strict referee punishes every violation of the rules. Lana’s voice is the presenter Larissa Rieß aka Lari Luke.

The show aims to push singles into a deeper relationship. If the contestants manage to prioritize witty conversation over sex, they go home with the prize—and maybe no longer single. But is that motivation enough to resist the hot temptation?
