There have already been rumors to that effect, and Microsoft has now confirmed it: Windows 10 version 22H2, which was released last year, will be the last version update for Windows 10. A 23H2 version is no longer available.

Support for Windows 10 officially ends for users on October 14, 2025. Until this date, Microsoft will continue to offer security updates and also publish one or the other improvement.

The group made a corresponding announcement in the tech community under the title “Windows Client Roadmap Update“. Microsoft has now for the first time explicitly commented on the support life cycle of Windows 10:

“As documented on the lifecycle pages of Windows 10 Enterprise and Education and Windows 10 Home and Pro, Windows 10 will reach end of support on October 14, 2025. The current version, 22H2, will be the last version of Windows 10 and all editions will continue to be supported with monthly security updates until that date. Existing LTSC versions will continue to receive updates based on their specific lifecycles after that date.”

The last Windows 10 version was also briefly and succinctly confirmed on Twitter: “Windows 10, version 22H2, will be the final version of Windows 10 that will be released. Monthly security updates will be released until October 14, 2025.”

This announcement does not change the final end of support date for Windows 10. The dates were already known via the Windows 10 “lifecycle page”.

It’s still a surprise!

For users, this means that it will finally be over in just over two years. Anyone who has not switched to Windows 11 by the end of 2025 will no longer receive updates for their Windows 10 version. Microsoft had changed the so-called support life cycle some time ago. Since then: There has been 24 months of support for Home and Pro editions of Windows and 36 months of support for Enterprise and Education editions. The annual feature update marks the beginning of the support lifecycle.

Therefore, many had expected that Microsoft would release a Windows 10 version in 2023 and then offer two years of updates for Home and Pro editions from that date.
