O appearance of images generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI) like the ones we saw of ‘Papa Rapper’ are clearly a cause for great confusion – especially at a first moment where it is not yet known whether they are real or manipulated. This is a problem that Google wants to solve.

The technology company announced during the annual Google I/O event that any image generated by its AI system will be identified as being manipulated, which will let you know that it was generated by a computer and that it does not correspond to reality.

If these images are displayed in Google Search search results, the search engine will be able to identify them as being generated by AI and will require additional information to warn Internet users.
