For nearly two years, there has been a torrent of rumors and speculation about Netherrealm Studios’ next title. Mortal Kombat 11 was released in 2019, and so far the developers have alternated between Mortal Kombat and Injustice, which has been widely interpreted to mean that it should be Injustice 3 this time around – but there have also been vague rumors of something Marvel-related.
So far, Netherrealm Studios has been very secretive about the project, posting little hints to fans about it for quite some time. But a few hours ago, we finally got the answer in the strangest way. Under Warner Bros. Discovery’s latest quarterly report revealed almost in passing that Mortal Kombat 12 will be released in 2023 (presumably referring to the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024).
And now we know this after the most anti-climactic announcement in living memory, but we assume a more formal presentation will be delivered very soon.
