President Alberto Fernández confirmed to a Buenos Aires channel that there will be activity in the Congress during the summer of 2023. The ruling party intends to resume the treatment of the pension moratorium in Deputies. In the Senate, the UCR asks that the vice president take leave, as a way to decompress the tension between the blocks.
On the one hand, the head of the Chamber of Deputies, Cecilia Moreau, assured that “she has about twenty projects” to be discussed, among which is the Pension Debt Payment Plan. The legislator noted that “in the last session of the Congress we did not manage to reach a quorum due to pettiness that some still cannot solve or explain”.
In relation to the Pension Moratorium Law, which was not approved in the Congress in 2022, promoted by the Frente de Todos, “It is a law that we urgently need to approve”, so that thousands of citizens, who still have not met the 30 years of contribution “can receive what corresponds to them,” he said.
In line with the statements of the President of the Chamber of Deputies, President Alberto Fernández announced that will convene extraordinary sessions to discuss issues such as “the pension moratorium” and different “alternatives” that are being evaluated together with the Minister of Economy Sergio Massa, in order to comply with the “Failure of the Supreme Court on co-participation”.
The most difficult issue to resolve, is to ease the political tension in both chambers of the Congress, that made impossible the debate in the extension of the ordinary period that the executive activated during the month of December.
