During 2022, Trumf members saved NOK 1.44 billion in bonuses.

On average, members have NOK 600 in their account, even though an amount of a billion has been withdrawn.

This is stated by NorgesGruppen in a press release.

The expert believes you should withdraw the kroner now.

– Comes in very handy

Consumer economist Magne Gundersen at Sparebank 1 tells TV 2 that the money in the members’ Trumf account is money that people need now.

– It’s NOK 600 which comes in very handy, so I think it’s just a matter of using that money, says Gundersen.

He says that it is easy to transfer the money to, for example, the bank account. He himself uses his Trumf points to get Eurobonus points, which can in turn be used for travel and holidays.

– You can use the Trumf points as you like. Also, these are not just points, but you can get them paid out as pure kroner.

Communications manager at NorgesGruppen, Kine Søyland, says that there is no interest on the Trumf bonus. Therefore, they prefer that the members use the bonus, and not just leave it there.

Debate on increased food prices: Who is left with the surplus?

It was The online newspaper who mentioned the matter first.

– We want people to use their bonus. If you use the bonus, you get more out of your membership.

Gundersen agrees with that.

– It’s money that comes in handy. It is not just food that has become more expensive, but everything is more expensive. So get a thousand extra, that’ll come in handy.

– My advice is to withdraw the money straight away so you can enjoy it. It’s your discounts and your saved money, says Gundersen.

– A buffer for many

Søyland says that there are around 2.5 million people who are members of the Trumf programme. It is especially now that we use the bonus we have accumulated since the last withdrawal.

– The trump bonus is particularly used in January. We think it’s because people build up some kind of status at the beginning of the year. There are also many people who have spent a lot of money in December, which makes January a tough month for many.

– The bonus is a buffer for many, but it is important to remember that there is no interest on the bonus, says Søyland.

Trump members saved slightly more points in 2022 than the previous year. Søyland believes that this has a connection with the pandemic. More people then shopped more at the grocery store and no one could go to Sweden to shop.

– It is not a problem that people leave their Trumf bonus alone, but it is they themselves who are affected. We see that the members who use their bonus are the most satisfied, says Søyland.
