Diverse, flexible and open: Many companies present themselves with a modern corporate culture. A Randstad study shows that the majority of companies keep their promises.

Good salary, good working conditions, good digital equipment and a good corporate culture? That is the dream of most applicants. The first points can be clarified before starting the job. But not whether the employer and the new colleagues really live the cultural values he advertises. The good news: In more than half of the cases, employers do not make false promises when it comes to corporate culture. The current one offers a look at the details Randstad New Work Trendreport.

Majority of applicants say: cultural promises are kept

This is shown by the results of the Randstad-Mente>Factum survey, which, along with other study content, was included in the trend report on the subject of employer branding: If the application process has been successfully completed and the position has been filled, according to 57% of those surveyed, companies adhere to the culture conveyed in the application process a very large part. 31% say “yes, but only partially”, 12% “no, rather less.” Overall, applicants are positive: 49% state that the respective company kept almost all the promises made during the application process – 45% for the most part.

Verena Menne, who, as Director Group HR, is responsible for human resources at Randstad Germany, finds this a very good result. “Competition among employers continues to increase. Many companies offer attractive working conditions: remuneration, digital equipment, flexibility or remote work are ‘basic to have’. Therefore, corporate culture is increasingly becoming a decisive factor – which means that employers can make a real difference there do,” explains the Randstad expert. This is also confirmed by the Randstad-Mente>Factum survey: According to this, after salary (67%) and place of work (51%), the working atmosphere is the third most important criterion with 50% that arouses the interest of employees.

How applicants recognize a good culture

Climate, mood, error and leadership culture, social interaction: what is it like to work in the company? “Am I dealing with a fair, open and modern employer? The employees can best answer this question,” explains Verena Menne. A good way to check the culture in the company from the outside, for example, is to look at employee accounts on social media such as LinkedIn and Xing. On the company’s website, candidates can search specifically for cultural interaction: Are employees introduced there? And if so, how? Are there training opportunities that demonstrate that the employer is investing in the development of its workforce? “The job interview can be used to show interest in the corporate culture and to ask about the concrete implementation in the company. Paying attention to the way employees interact with each other when walking through the office corridor or the production facilities is also informative.”

Once the employment contract for the new job is signed, social interaction in the company is put to the test for the first time. The majority of those surveyed were openly received by the new colleagues. 88% of the applicants are satisfied with the integration into the company. 90% of the applicants had the feeling that they were gladly accepted by their new colleagues.
