The Court of Algiers requests a confirmation of sentence for Said Bouteflika, Tehkout, haddad and the Kouninef

The General Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Algiers requested, on Tuesday afternoon, the confirmation of the verdict pronounced at 12 years in prison against Said Bouteflika, prosecuted in corruption cases with 71 other defendants, former businessmen for most of them.

The brother and adviser of ex-president Abdelaziz Bouteflika was prosecuted for “having granted suspicious protection to certain businessmen and for illicit enrichment and money laundering abroad”.

The Attorney General also requested the confirmation of the sentences pronounced against the businessmen Mahieddine Tahkout to 15 years in prison, Ali Haddad to 12 years in prison, Ahmed Mazouz to 12 years in prison and the Kouninef brothers to 10 years. from prison.

He also requested the confirmation of the verdict pronounced against the former parliamentarian Tahar Missoum said “specific” and the former CEO of the National Bank of Algiers (BNA) Aboud Achour sentenced by the court of first instance to two years in prison each.

The prosecution also requested confirmation of the decisions to confiscate all real and movable property, bank accounts and seized funds.

The defendants were sentenced last February by the Sidi M’hamed court of first instance to terms ranging from 2 to 15 years in prison.
