The National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor’s Office (Pnat) has indicated that it has opened an investigation by the head of a criminal association of criminal terrorists and destruction of the property of others by dangerous means for people in connection with a terrorist enterprise.

A second home belonging to people living on the mainland was “totally destroyed” in Coti-Chiavari (Corse-du-Sud), probably after an explosion and a fire, indicated the prosecutor of Ajaccio, specifying that the national parquet floor counter-terrorism took over the investigation.

The facts occurred around 10 p.m. on Tuesday and affected an imposing villa with a swimming pool, uninhabited at the time of the events, said the public prosecutor of Ajaccio, Nicolas Septe, confirming information from Corse-Matin.

“The technicians are still on the scene. It seems that there was an explosion but for the moment, it is difficult to determine if it was prior to or following the fire”, indicated Nicolas Septe.

On the house were found tags “GCC” – from the name of the clandestine group called “Ghjuventu Clandestina Corsa” (Clandestine Corsican youth) -, “Ghuventu in lotta” (Youth in struggle), as well as “anti-speculation messages real estate as we have unfortunately counted a certain number since July,” said the magistrate.

An investigation for destruction/degradation by dangerous means was opened and entrusted to the research brigade and the research section of the gendarmerie.

Several dozen second homes have been affected over the past year by arson or explosive charges, with or without the presence of tags.

At the beginning of February, the clandestine group GCC announced its creation and claimed 17 actions against second homes, buildings under construction, construction companies and tourist establishments.

This group, whose acronym is associated with around twenty arson attacks that have occurred in recent months on the Mediterranean island, claims to be walking “in the footsteps of the FLNC” (Corsican National Liberation Front). He claimed responsibility for the arson of the town halls of Afa and Appietto, on the outskirts of Ajaccio, at the end of March.

But a new statement then sowed confusion, claiming that GCC had been the victim of “usurpers” who had “claimed” some of its shares, suggesting a possible split.

On March 21, a year after the death of independence activist Yvan Colonna, fatally assaulted in prison, the FLNC claimed responsibility for 17 acts against second homes and criticized the GCC for having assumed “paternity” of several of its actions. .
