A car crash sent people to the hospital with serious injuries and briefly closed the Cape Cod side of Massachusetts’ Sagamore Bridge Friday afternoon, making traffic difficult for people heading to Cape Cod for vacations.
People were taken to hospitals with serious injuries from the crash on Route 3 just before the bridge, according to the Massachusetts State Police. Those who were injured are expected to survive.
The accident took place at 3:15 p.m., causing all southbound lanes to be closed at first. One lane was reopened in each direction after some of the wreckage was cleared.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said the accident involved multiple injuries and closed southbound Route 3 at the bridge.
The cause of the crash was not immediately available.
