Step.- A Lower Valley man died Tuesday morning on Loop 375, near the Bridge of the Americas (BOTA), also known as “Libre.”

The driver was heading east when he crossed a painted median while driving down and struck another car, causing both vehicles to spin and crash into a guardrail, reports the El Paso Police (EPPD).

The victim was identified as Ray King Garcia, 47, who died near mile marker 56 at 8:16 a.m.

After crossing the painted median, García collided with another car, driven by Nallely Ríos López, 32, who was coming down a bridge that connects the US54 highway with Loop 375, which in that area is known as Cesar Chavez Border Highway. .

Both cars spun and hit the guardrail, police said.

Garcia was taken to a local hospital where he died of his injuries. Lopez suffered minor injuries. This is the 19th traffic fatality in El Paso this year compared to 23 for the same period last year.

Special traffic investigators continue to investigate Tuesday’s accident.
