Crazed woman randomly shoots drivers at God's command during eclipse

MIAMI.- A woman, with obvious mental problems, opened fire on a Florida highway, randomly shooting at passing drivers because, she said, God had ordered her to do so during the solar eclipse, police said.

Taylon Nichelle Celestine, 22, leaving a motel in Holmes County, west of Tallahassee, Florida, told the staff working there that God had commanded her to carry out a shooting when the solar eclipse occurred.

According to the police report, Celestine entered the highway about 115 miles from the Alabama border and opened fire several times at two passing vehicles, wounding one driver in the arm and another in the neck. This last victim had to be hospitalized.

When the highway police managed to stop her, they found an AR-15 rifle and a 9 mm caliber pistol.

Celestine is in the Holmes County Jail and faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and misuse of a firearm.

So far, nothing has emerged about his mental state nor have details of his bail been given.

Unlike other states, the solar eclipse in Florida was partially seen during the afternoon of this Monday, April 8, 2024.
