Trump resumes his electoral campaign and jokes about his recent accusation

WASHINGTON – Former US President Donald Trump (2017-2021) resumed his presidential campaign this Friday with a speech in the state of Alabama in which he tried to get political gain from his third indictment.

“Many of these cases (…) could have been filed two and a half years ago. But they didn’t want to file two and a half years ago, they wanted to wait. (…) And they waited until I became the dominant force in the polls because we’re dominating them all,” the Republican said to a cheering audience.

Trump joked that every time he is impeached he rises in the polls, saying he only needs a fourth indictment to settle the 2024 election.

And it is that the former president seems unbeatable in his bid to win the Republican nomination for the 2024 elections, in which he hopes to face the current president, Joe Biden, leading all the vote intention polls for the conservative primaries.

Trump focused a large part of his criticism precisely on Biden and his family, repeating a string of accusations of corruption that is already common in his speeches, and he promised again that, if he comes to power, he will order an investigation of the Democrat.

“He’s a corrupt, incompetent thief, and he shouldn’t be allowed to be president,” he said, further accusing some Republicans of being “weak assholes.”

Trump spoke just over 24 hours after appearing before a Washington, DC court, accused of trying to reverse the result of the 2020 election he lost to Biden and instigating the 2021 assault on the Capitol.

It is the third indictment of the ex-president in just a few months: in March he was accused in New York of 34 counts of falsifying commercial records for payments to the porn actress Stormy Daniels to hide the “affair” they had, and in June he was accused in Miami (Florida) courts on 37 federal offenses for retaining and concealing classified documents at his personal residence.

Meanwhile, a fourth investigation could also end in criminal charges. To see more from Telemundo, visit
