Thanks to an attentive witness, the police in Heiligenhaus arrested two suspected metal thieves in the act on Saturday (December 31). A police helicopter was also involved in the search.

A witness alerted the Heiligenhaus police

At around 2 a.m., an attentive witness alerted the police because he saw two suspected thieves loading scrap metal. The police were quickly with strong forces at the company premises on Schopshofer Weg in Heiligenhaus-Mitte and searched for the suspects. A police helicopter also assisted in the operation.

The thieves came from Essen

After a short search, police officers were able to arrest the two suspected thieves. The two men were a 23-year-old and a 26-year-old man from Essen. The two men had already begun to load the scrap metal into a VW transporter. There was also a suspicion that the car’s license plates were stolen.

Crime vehicle was secured

The two suspects were brought to the police station in Velbert by the officers deployed. After the police measures were completed, they were released. Several investigations were initiated and the suspected murder vehicle was seized.
