A man of Cuban origin identified as Arnoldo Pérez Mirabal, 50, was arrested and charged with a series of 55 robberies at construction sites in Port St Lucie, Florida.

The arrest took place on April 5 and Pérez Mirabal, a resident of Greenacres, Palm Beach County, faces at least 55 charges for his alleged participation in these crimes, the channel reported. Telemundo.

According to Port St Lucie Police Chief Richard del Toro, Perez Mirabal was traveling from Palm Beach to Port St Lucie with the goal of robbing new real estate developments in the area, where the lack of occupancy provided few security measures.

The man took advantage of the vulnerability of the areas under construction and stole around $60,000 in electrical boxes that had already been installed in several buildings.

The magnitude of the robberies led authorities to treat the case as a major crime scene, equated to that of a homicide.

He said the scene was closed and several investigators specialized in fingerprints and forensic studies were mobilized.

Thanks to this process, evidence was obtained that led to the arrest of suspect.

The police chief also issued a warning to potential criminals, highlighting how seriously these crimes are taken in Port St Lucie, one of Florida’s largest cities and considered a growing place with many construction sites.

Currently, Arnoldo Pérez Mirabal remains arrested in the St Lucie County Jail, with bond set at $1.2 million.
