The reporter, for his part, thanked the people who donated medicines to help in the recovery of the nine-year-old boy.

In mid-July the little boy was diagnosed with dengue hemorrhagic fever and had to be admitted urgently because his life was in danger.

Doctors extracted fluid from his lungs, but it was more difficult to do the same in his heart, so people close to the family asked for a prayer chain and any kind of help to keep him safe.

Dengue hemorrhagic fever represents a serious threat to the health of children in various tropical regions, including Cuba, as their developing immune systems lack prior experience of exposure to the virus.

This disease, transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, can have devastating consequences for children. It is characterized by the appearance of more serious symptoms than common dengue, such as high fever, internal bleeding, organ damage and, in extreme cases, it can lead to shock and death.

Cuba faces a higher number of cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever due to the tropical climate and high temperatures, which provide favorable conditions for the reproduction of the virus-transmitting mosquito. Additionally, the accumulation of standing water in containers, containers, and other objects is common in some areas, contributing to the further spread of the virus.

At the end of June, the health authorities of Guantanamo recognized the increase in outbreaks and suspected cases of dengue, mainly in the municipalities of Manuel Tames, Caimanera and the provincial capital city.

In July 2022, CyberCuba reported the death of several children due to dengue hemorrhagic fever, including nine-year-old Kenia Orosco, a native of Guabanacoa, Havana.
