Cuban kisses the ground upon arriving in the US with CBP One

A Cuban kissed the US soil after arriving with a visa following the CBP One appointment.

The video of this migrant kissing American soil was released by journalist Mario J Pentónwho said that it was a promise “in gratitude for the welcome in this country.”

“’God bless the United States,’” he told me when he sent me this video. “‘Promise fulfilled,'” added Pentón.

More of 18,000 Cubans entered the United States by its land and sea borders in October, the highest figure since December of last year.

According to figures revealed by the Department of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a total of 18,083 Cubans arrived by sea and land in the country, indicating that the migration crisis on the Caribbean island continues unstoppable.

28 entered through the northern border (Canada) and 12,495 through the southern border (Mexico). The rest of the migrants, about 5,000, arrived by sea through the Strait of Florida through the Miami sector (4,408) and the Tampa sector (591).

Likewise, fiscal year 2023 closed on September 30 with 200,287 requests from Cubansbarely 24 thousand less than the previous period, when 224,607 migrants from the island crossed the borders.

These figures are a clear indicator that the Cuban migration crisis remains without a solution, despite the decompression that the humanitarian parole program promoted by President Joe Biden since January would supposedly provide.

Although 40,000 Cubans benefited in the first six months of this program, the process has slowed down. In October, 50,000 had been approved, only 10,000 more since June.

In addition, thousands of immigrant visas have been granted at the US embassy in Havana during the current fiscal year. At least 30 thousand were delivered until June.
