It is inhuman that in a process as painful as this we still do not have answers. It is the request of a mother who is devastated and desperate,” Martínez wrote on Facebook this Thursday.

The woman added that the young woman, called “Tahimi”, she is their only daughter and that she is in the United States alone with her husband.

The young woman has been admitted to intensive care since July 20, after being diagnosed with heart disease.

Since the end of July, relatives and friends of the young Cuban opened an account on the fundraising platform GoFundMe designed to help cover medical expenses.

“Our dear friend Tahimí is a lovely and vibrant 30 year old woman who has always been willing to support any friend or family member when called upon. Unfortunately she was recently diagnosed with heart disease. This was devastating news for her family and friends. His condition has rapidly worsened to the point that he is now in intensive care fighting for his life.”

The emotional petition referenced the overwhelming challenges that lie ahead for that family.

“We are determined to fight this battle and we, as friends, are also determined to be there for her as she has been for all of us. We cannot do it alone and we know that there are many people who want to help,” added the text that requested support for the young

The petition specified that the money raised will help pay the costs associated with medical treatments, medicines and any necessary medical equipment, in addition to covering travel and food expenses, since the young woman will have to attend several appointments with specialists to receive the necessary treatment.

Until the closing of this note, the fundraising campaign in GoFundMe in favor of Tahimi accumulates 13,210 dollars. Meanwhile, From Cuba, her mother continues to clamor for a prompt humanitarian visa that allows her to reunite with her daughter to care for her.a request that is not unprecedented, since there is a history of similar cases.

In February of this year, the Cuban Anna Lidia Beltrán received approval for a humanitarian visa that would allow her to travel to the United States, where her 21-year-old son was hospitalized in critical condition after suffering a traffic accident.

In that case, the office of Cuban-American Senator Marco Rubio helped in the management of the humanitarian visa, as reported at the time.
