Schleiz.
The nature park region “Thuringian Sea” should attract more visitors in the future. The state government now wants to use subsidies to push new tourism projects. What exactly is planned?

To make the “Thuringian Sea” region more attractive for tourists, an information point and another stretch of cycle path are to be built at the Bleiloch reservoir for 520,000 euros. Economics Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee (SPD) presented the funding to the mayor of Schleiz, Marko Bias.

“The nature park region of the Thuringian Sea with the Bleiloch and Hohenwarte reservoirs has great potential for tourism,” said the minister. In order to develop this, you need the right infrastructure. The two planned projects are important building blocks for this.

The information point is to be equipped with a digital, multilingual terminal where tourists can call up current events and timetables. There are also plans to extend the cycle path and footpath to the Bleiloch dam in Gräfenwarth. Both projects should be completed by the end of the year. The “Thuringian Sea” includes a total of five reservoirs, the Bleiloch and Hohenwarte reservoirs being the two largest. (dpa)
