In an exclusive chat with The Sun, Darren, 34, revealed who he thinks is his biggest competitor.

Darren said: “If I had to choose I’d say it’s between Joey, Nile, Vivienne or Carly because I’ve probably seen them skate the most.

“There are still people that I haven’t seen skating! I would say those, because they all have something different.

“Whether it’s a lot of charisma on the ice, confidence on the ice, great skating technique or musicality and the ability to sell a routine.

“I would say it’s out of those four for me. They are all awesome.

“Plus, we’re all really looking forward to getting on the ice. It lets me know that we all have that in common, so it’s probably those guys.

It’s no wonder he named these celebrities as his main competition.

Last week, Nile Wilson topped the leaderboard with a very impressive 29.5 of 40, followed by Joey Essex with 27 points.

Meanwhile, The Vivienne and Carley Stenson are skating this weekend.

The comedian can’t wait to hit the ice live on TV for the first time, but knows his co-stars will be cheering him on.

Darren said: “Yes, I’m very nervous but I think everyone did it last week, I saw them all do it last week, all six did it.

“So I have no choice, I have to go out and do it. And they will all support me too. I’m nervous like you wouldn’t believe, but there will be a part of me just before my music comes out and we start our routine where I’m gonna do this, let’s do this!

Although he has a lot of acting experience, he finds Dancing On Ice more nerve-wracking.

He continued, “I’ll have less nerves on tour, I’ve toured before, I’ve been doing comedy since I was a teenager.

“You know you always want to put on a good show and I’m very confident that I will, but I’ve been doing comedy almost all my life, ice skating isn’t something I would have even thought of. try, let alone do a routine live on ITV every Sunday – what am I doing!?

  • Darren will appear on Dancing on Ice this Sunday at 6.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, and is on tour with Roadman from September
