Mexico City.- Dariel Alarí, the first baby of 2023, was born at 00:01 (zero hours and one minute) this Sunday, January 1, at the IMSS Gynecopediatric Hospital in Magdalena de las Salinas, Mexico City.

The newborn weighed three kilos 540 grams, measured 50 centimeters and is reported to be in good health, as is his mother, Mrs. Patricia Calzada, who was attended by Social Security personnel.

The IMSS reported that both the newborn and his mother were cared for by a team made up of six specialists, taking care of sanitary measures in the face of the rebound in Covid-19 cases in the Valley of Mexico.

“Mrs. Patricia Calzada Hernández, 29, is a housewife and originally from Mexico City; a few minutes after receiving her baby in her arms, she said she felt very relieved and happy for the arrival of her son: ‘tell him that we did it and that I love him very much.’

“I thank all the IMSS staff because without them neither the baby nor I would be here. We are fine. They are trustworthy, it is the second pregnancy that I have attended here at the IMSS and they have always treated me well, you have to trust the doctors , they are very good,” the woman shared, according to the agency’s report.

The mother explained that Alarí is a Zapotec name that means “warrior of God.”

Dariel Alarí is the third son of Patricia and Jorge Abraham Salgado, he is 29 years old and works as a cargo transport driver. Patricia highlighted that her first daughter was also born in Social Security, “although it was a pregnancy that had complications, the care they gave me was always excellent.”

Dariel Alarí had an APGAR score of 8/9, a test that measures the correct heart rate, breathing, muscle tone and reflexes, highlighted Dr. Oliverio Bautista López, in charge of the 3-A Pediatric Gynecology Hospital Clinic Coordination.

“We are happy for Dariel that he was born in perfect condition and that his mother is also in very good condition, it was a surgical procedure that did not have any major incidents and that the beneficiary population should be calm, and specifically pregnant women, because we have a very noble institution where high quality standards are managed, comprehensive and warm care,” said the doctor.

On a typical day, the IMSS Gynecopediatric Hospital 3-A attends 480 specialty consultations and 130 emergencies, 55 hospital discharges, 29 surgeries, 18 deliveries, seven cesarean sections, 1,500 laboratory studies, 68 X-rays and 51 Ultrasounds.
