The team behind Dead Island 2 (you’ve read our review, by the way) have teamed up with British insurance company DeadHappy to offer real funeral insurance to promote the new action game. The scheme is called Deathwish and enables you to be thanked with a funeral wake unlike any other.

In the press release about the collaboration we can read:

“Send your mates to the real LA for a zombie cocktail fuelled party before it goes to hell! A wake to end all wakes, in your honour. This Deathwish will also cover your funeral expenses so there are no un-wanted comebacks! After all, we should all die responsibly.”

This Deathwish package is now available for £8,000 (around SEK 105,000) in addition to the plan chosen by subscribers, and it is also stated that while this is a serious offer, DeadHappy cannot legally compel anyone to attend your funeral.

This is just one of many bizarre afterlife options that DeadHappy offers, as the company also has options to have your ashes turned into a diamond, get someone paid to take out the trash, pay off a loan using life insurance funds, and even get ash sent into space.

What do you like marketing campaigns like these; Lively and fun – or mostly unsavory?
