Deadpool & Wolverine movie premiere ranks among the best in history

LOS ANGELES.- Deadpool & Wolverine had a better Sunday than expected. The film The comic book grossed $211 million in its opening weekend in U.S. and Canadian theaters, it said. Disney on Monday.

That’s $6 million more than was estimated on Sunday, putting the Deadpool y Wolverine in a different league. It had already broken the record for an R-rated film (which requires that children under 17 view it with a parent or guardian) by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA).

But the film directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Reynolds y Hugh Jackman now boasts the sixth-highest opening weekend of all time, surpassing Jurassic World, which will debut with $208.8 million in 2015.

The Walt Disney Co. can now claim five of the six biggest box office openings in history, not accounting for inflation, including two movies from Avengers, Endgame e Infinity Warand two films of Star Wars, The Force Awakens (The Force Awakens) y The Last Jedi (The last jedi). The only atypical case is the second place, Spider-Man: No Way Home (Spider-Man: No Way Home), released by Sony and produced by Marvel Studios.

The superior performance of Deadpool & Wolverine also boosted its global figure to 444.3 million dollars, surpassing Avatar: The Way of Water (Avatar: The Way of Water).
