As the all-time runner-up, the Duke of Sussex accuses his brother in “Spare”. A no-go for the BAFTA organizers, who apparently did not invite Meghan and Harry. Ober trumps Unter or Prince trumps Duke. When organizers have to choose between William or Harry, Harry gets the short end of the stick.

Los Angeles – The BAFTA award (short for British Academy of Film and Television Arts) is Britain’s most important film award. The event is considered the British counterpart to the Oscars. As a rule, everything that has rank and name in show business appears at the BAFTAs. The Royals have not missed the award ceremony for years. from Prince Harry (38) and Meghan Markle (41) were missing every trace on the evening of the pre-award event, which took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills with stars like Cate Blanchett (53) and Kate Hudson (43). This is apparently due to Harry’s recently published riot memoir “Spare”.

An invitation from Harry and Meghan is out of the question because of the attacks in “Spare”.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were “not welcome” at this year’s Bafta Tea Party in LA after London officials decided it would be a PR disaster, sources say Daily Mail let know. The pair are also apparently not on the guest list for Britain’s biggest showbiz night in Hollywood on January 19, after Harry’s memoir ‘Spare’ caused quite a bit of backlash against the royals. London executives “snubbed” the Sussexes as they felt inviting Harry and Meghan over was a “terrible idea,” a BAFTA official revealed.

Prince Harry’s attacks, which he recently launched in his book and previously with Meghan Markle in their Netflix documentary, are not without consequences. The US team of BAFTA organizers have reportedly been reminded that Prince Harry cannot be invited if he attacks his brother Prince William, 40. Because: The President of the BAFTA has been the Prince of Wales for years.

Presidents of the BAFTAs

Prince Philip (99, † 2021) was the President of the BAFTAs from 1959 to 1966. Then Lord Louis Mountbatten (79, † 1979) took over, then Princess Anne (72) and later director Richard Attenborough (90, † 2014). He was the only non-British royal family president. In 2010, a royal took over the office with Prince William.

Inviting Harry and Meghan over would be a no-no, says a BAFTA staffer

Rolling out the red carpet for Harry and his wife would be a no-no, the source explains. “Any interview would spread. Anything negative for William would be devastating.” King Charles’ elder son (74) has been the President of the British Academy Film Awards since 2010. For him, the BAFTAs are an affair of the heart, but also a must-attend event. The 40-year-old has been giving the honorary award there for years. The winners include Helen Mirren (77) and Ridley Scott (85).

In fact, Prince William shouldn’t be particularly good at talking to Harry. In “Spare” he brings up what casts the heir apparent in a bad light. Not only did he beat him, but Harry was only born to serve as a “spare parts store” for Prince William as a potential donor of blood, organs or bone marrow. These are harsh allegations. The monarch also gets off badly with Harry: At one point in “Spare” Harry reports that his father Charles had expressed doubts about the authenticity of their blood relationship.
