The Ukrainian prosecutor asks the G7 of Justice for an international tribunal against Putin

The Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Andrey Kostinadvocated this Friday for the creation of an international tribunal to try Russian war crimes and its president, Vladimir Putin, at the G7 Justice Ministers summit in the Italian city of Venice (northeast).

“We want to establish an international court to judge Russia’s aggression and for Putin to be judged. It is not only a question of justice, but a deterrent act for other potential dictators who could attack other countries,” he told the media.

And he added: “From that point of view the international system proves to be flawed. “We cannot allow these rulings to be used so that the aggressors achieve impunity.”

Kostin has participated as a guest in the G7 Justice Ministers Summitthe group of the richest democracies on the planet (Germany, Canada, the United States, France, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom), held in Venice by the Italian presidency in office.

The prosecutor explained that, since the Russian invasion was carried out in February 2022, 300 war crimes trials held in Ukraine against Russian soldiers, although the majority, 85%, are held in contumacy, without the presence of the accused.
