Turkey.- The death toll in Turkey has risen to 8,574, while 49,133 people have already been injured after the devastating earthquakes, the country’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, reported on Wednesday.

Additionally, a total of 6,444 buildings were destroyed. “Our work on the rubble continues, we aim to carry out operations in Kahramanmaras and nine provinces, as well as we carried out operations in the provinces where other disasters occurred in one year,” he said.

More than 50,000 tents have been set up in the affected areas to temporarily house citizens, while some 93,000 more are still waiting to be deployed.

Earlier, it was reported that some 5,309 rescuers from other countries have already arrived in Turkey to help save people trapped in the rubble and mitigate the destructive consequences of the quakes.

This Tuesday, Erdogan declared a state of emergency in 10 provinces affected by the earthquakes. The president specified that the measure will be valid for three months.
