FSV Mainz 05 is apparently looking down a league in search of a new central defender. The ‘Rheinische Post’ reports that the Bundesliga club is dealing with Christoph Klarer from Fortuna Düsseldorf. The Düsseldorfers are planning a transfer fee of between two and three million euros.

It is also said that the 1.91 meter tall Austrian is one of the three top candidates in Mainz. The 22-year-old has been on the pitch in 15 of 17 second division games for Fortuna this season. He was called up to the starting XI 13 times. Before joining the club, currently seventh in the second division table, in October 2020, the right-footed player put on his shoes for the reserve team of Premier League club Southampton FC.
