CDMX.- The Governor of the State of Mexico, Alfredo Del Mazo, urged the entity’s Prosecutor’s Office to avoid impunity in the case of a tamale vendor who died after being hit by a drunk driver who could later be arrested but was released.

“We are going to ask the State of Mexico Prosecutor’s Office that is dealing with this matter, as the President said, there should not be any injustice and well, this type of situation should not happen without any consequences, the event that happened in the Municipality of Cuautitlán”, said the Governor in the morning conference of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

“We are going to be there accompanying the family and supporting them in whatever way we can, of course, as well as asking the State Prosecutor’s Office to attend to the case, to review it again.”

From the National Palace, the PRI assured that today he will request the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) to explain why the driver was released and at what stage the process is.

“The case must be thoroughly reviewed to see why the Public Ministry determined this and I would ask the State Prosecutor, the Mexico State Prosecutor’s Office, that we could review this matter in depth to be able to inform them what can proceed. And of course, this situation is not warranted, the fact that this situation has been determined,” he said.

“I am asking the State Attorney’s Office today to issue the corresponding information, which I can gladly make known,” he replied.
