While they delight the inhabitants of the capital, the last two decrees on the circulation of two-wheelers issued by the wali of Algiers put certain citizens at a disadvantage. This is the case for delivery people in particular, who are moving mainly on motorcycles to do their work.
At a time when shopping on the Internet is more and more in vogue and where everything is delivered, what is the fate of these mobile workers, deprived of part of their working time slot ?
Restriction on night motorcycles in Algiers: what consequences?
In mid-Ramadan, the national gendarmerie informed the population of the implementation of a new decree issued by the wilaya of Algiers. The decree thus published prohibits the circulation of large displacement motorcycles (125 m³ and more) in between 22h et 06h in the capital.
This new measure is supposed to protect the inhabitants from the noise of the night caused by vehicle machinery. Howeverit penalizes on the other side the delivery men, making night motorbike journeys their main source of income.

“Some people need late night deliveries, like pregnant women and sick people. I them sometimes delivers medicines and foodstuffs To 01h-02h in the morning” explains one of them.
“I wish I could finish at 23h or 00h to increase my profits, it would help me feed my children,” said another.
Reform on the circulation of two-wheelers: the people are asking for adjustments
If they agree that the decree of wali penalizes them on many levels, the delivery people are not totally against the decision. Despite the fact of preventing night deliveries, putting an end to the noise at night is good, explain the latter, “My mother gets up early and therefore sleeps very early at night, the noise of the big cars disturbs her in all honesty” admits one of them.

Today, the request from delivery people is simple: adjust this reform to allow them to continue to exercise in the evening without being penalized. It is specifically about allow the circulation of service motorcyclesincluding the 125 ccdeemed not noisy and very popular with delivery people for their robustness.
