Recently, a rumor surfaced of trouble for Fable 4 development. Twitter account ‘Idle Sloth’ – which posts about gaming news and rumors – claimed that all progress on the upcoming Fable sequel had been completely scrapped. According to the account, development had started again with a blank slate.

The Twitter post has since been deleted, but described how the team at Playground Games supposedly found the game unplayable and wanted to start over. The account also claimed that development would switch from the studio’s own Forzatech engine to the Unreal Engine.

However, it did not take long before several people who claim to have knowledge of the development came out against the rumours. Christopher Dring (Head of Games at GamesIndustry.biz) and Jez Corden (Editor of Windows Central) both quickly came out and denied everything.

It’s been two years since Fable was announced – and five years since development began – and there hasn’t been much information about the game in that time. But game development takes time, and there is no reason to think that things have stopped.
