After several bans on Palestinian demonstrations in Berlin in recent weeks, another event could take place this Saturday. “Demonstration for the fundamental right to freedom of assembly and freedom of expression on the 75th anniversary of the Nakba” is the registration in Neukölln with 1000 participants.
What is meant is the Palestinian commemoration day Nakba on May 15th to commemorate the flight and expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in the first Middle East war in 1948 after the founding of Israel.
According to the current status, the demonstration is taking place, said a police spokeswoman on Wednesday. However, it cannot be completely ruled out that this will change.
Anti-Israel statements were made at a demonstration over the Easter weekend
In recent weeks, the police have banned several Palestinian demonstrations against Israel’s policies because they inflammatory and anti-Semitic slogans, outbreaks of violence and glorification of violence expected. Courts had upheld the bans.
Earlier on the Easter weekend, participants in a Palestine demonstration had shouted anti-Israeli and anti-Semitic slogans. Similar incidents had occurred again and again during demonstrations in previous years.
