sAccording to information available on DGArtes’ official website, with a global amount of 300 thousand euros, “the regular activity of associations and communities in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region will be supported, such as philharmonic bands, groups of amateur theater and ethnography groups”.
Of the 64 associations supported, 38 are in the area of music, eight in the theater, 16 in cross-disciplinary areas, one in dance and another in visual arts.
This line of funding “aims to respond to the specific needs of the Region, contributing to the access and cultural enjoyment of the respective populations”.
The support awarded, with a maximum value of five thousand euros, “is intended for initiatives – to run until the end of this year – that contribute to stimulating the participation of local communities, strengthening relations between the various non-professional cultural agents and stimulating creation of cultural networks in the territories”.
DGArtes highlights the contribution of the funding line to support non-professional cultural entities in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley “for the promotion of ethnic and cultural diversity, social inclusion, gender equality, citizenship and the quality of life of the communities in different local territories”.
Applications were open between January 12th and February 14th.
This support, awarded for the first time in 2021, “is due to the fact that DGArtes succeeded in the attributions of the former Regional Directorate of Culture of Lisbon and Tagus Valley in the context of supporting non-professional cultural entities in that region”.
DGArtes recalls that, “in the North, Centre, Alentejo and Algarve regions, the Regional Directorates of Culture are the competent bodies for attributing support to local or regional cultural initiatives, of a non-professional nature”.
