Günther Jauch (66) can smile about this story today …

During the Christmas gambler special of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” the moderator shared an anecdote from his early days on Monday evening. Back then, a small mistake got him into big trouble.

The quiz master remembered the funny story when candidate Simone Schneider-Stenkewitz sat on the council chair. The teacher from Barth in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has had many jobs in her life. Among other things, she worked briefly for a local TV station in Austria. But that didn’t go well for long.

“I wasn’t accepted at all because I can’t speak this dialect,” she told Günther Jauch on the show. The TV professional knew: “You shouldn’t try that either. That’s what they resent the most.” He was even able to top his candidate’s story.

Listeners complained about Jauch’s report

Quite surprisingly, Jauch blurted out: “I had a microphone ban on Bavarian Radio for at least six months because I had made a report from the Oktoberfest and also reported what was going on there.” The young Günther Jauch made a blunder. He about the faux pas: “Instead of from chicken I have from Handel spoken. So like the composer.”

DAS was not well received in Bavaria. After the number, protest letters rained down, and Jauch was no longer allowed in front of the microphone for six months. While he remained true to the job, his candidate changed careers and is now a teacher.

In Jauch’s quiz show it went like clockwork for her. In the XXL Special, all participants had to play the gambler variant with four jokers. However, no one should be drawn up to the 16,000 euro question. If you do it, everyone else is gone in one fell swoop. Schneider-Stenkewitz only stumbled at 250,000 euros.

The moderator wanted to know: “What is sometimes described in more detail with terms such as coral stone, valve stone, deer antler stone and Augustus stone?” There was a choice of chimney stones, precious stones, kidney stones and tombstones. Because even the last joker didn’t help her, the blonde got out and took 125,000 euros home with her. The correct answer is kidney stones!

Unfortunately, nobody cracked the jackpot of two million euros that evening.
