Before the audition: off to the toilet service! At the DSDS recall in Mallorca, the remaining superstar aspirants were not only challenged vocally. Musically, too, things went wrong. Which didn’t always lead to retirement. The RTL show has its own laws.

This recall from “Germany seeks the superstar” on Malle stinks to high heaven. Literally. The crème de la crème of what is believed to be the last casting in DSDS history managed within a day to put their shower and toilet in a disgusting state. Truly damn….!

The budding superstars first had to act as super cleaners before they could start practicing. Accordingly, many a silly tone came out when it was presented to the jurors Leony Burger, Katja Krasavice, Pietro Lombardi and Dieter Bohlen went.

But, that’s not new to DSDS, but it’s always amazing: if you sing wrong (or not at all), you’re far from out of the competition. On the other hand: If you consider how long Menderes once had to beg to be let through to the recall… It wasn’t just the odds that were better in the past.

The revolution against song selection fails

For Jana Milena Eßer (23) and Sascha Wilhelm (29) it was hardly worth getting bitten by mosquitoes on a Mallorcan field. The two were eliminated in the pentathlon of the wobbly candidates. There were only 38 left. And because the four top candidates who had traveled with gold CDs had a bye, only 34 candidates were divided into formations of four and three, were assigned their songs and, as soon as the toilet was accessible again, went to practice the DSDS professionals Juliette Schoppmann and André Franke.

On an alpaca farm (after all, an animal upgrade to the cowshed recall back in season 18), things got down to business. Rose Ndumba (24), Lawa Baban (25), Olga Levit (29) and Jill Lange (22) started with “Big Energy” (Latto feat. Mariah Carey & DJ Khaled). However, not immediately. First Jill had to cry. Because she doesn’t know the song, because she feels worse than the others (which she is!) and everything. “The song is stupid.” She even wanted to start a “revolution” against the choice of songs, which, however, failed. Because the others didn’t know the song either. So: so what!

The “Bieber Boys”: So cool that they pee on ice cubes

What could Jill sing if she diverted her energy from whining and whining and howling! The jury probably thought so too. Because there is no other way to explain that she actually let the drama queen advance to the next round. Before the “You’re still ahead” came, however, Jill (and also Olga) received objective and justified criticism that would have actually only allowed a line to be drawn. Namely: “You’re out!” But no, all four progressed, Rose and Lawa, by the way, highly praised, it must be so much time.

The jurors’ odd perspective was even more evident with the quartet Nikolaos “Big N” Simediriadis (23), Isa Berisha (22), Peris Grigoriadis (24) and Fatih Yüksel (28) and their attempt to “Peaches” (Justin beaver) to sing. The four “Bieber Boys” think they’re so cool that they’re probably peeing ice cubes in their dreams. And in the camp, “Let’s bounce, Motherf..cker”-Nik, “Flamingo” Fatih and Gigi-Bro Peris are also really well received. But sing? No way! Does the “Big N” even say: “I’m a rapper, not a singer.” The boys had promised something “special” despite – no wonder – massive problems in practicing. They kept their word.

“Another performance like that and you’re all kicked out!”

It was particularly wrong. Dieter Bohlen, the honest skin, also raised: “Musically, so from the voice I would not let any of you go!” But firstly, according to Katja, “it also depends on the performance” and secondly, dazzling guys like this are good for the quota. So maybe. Greetings go out to Shada and Claudia!

Although Bohlen had honestly rated the performance – peppered with vocal mistakes and text hangers, but also with a backspin and a somersault from a standing position and a lot of lowrider bouncing – as the “biggest bluff of all time”, but then nobody flew. “I kiss your hearts” stammered Big N., who had already seen himself at home with his mother and in the charts. Well, nothing. Continue on malls.

But at least. The boys were scolded very hard: “Another performance, and all four of you fly,” Pietro wagged his index finger and Leony threw the yellow card after them: “There’s no second second chance.” Where are the English betting shops with their bizarre bets when you really need them?

“Champions League voices” give you goosebumps

But then, also nice with DSDS, there were great performances again. The gang of four Monika Gajek (21), Tatjana Ivanovic (20), Dilara Sabahat (17) and Marleen Schäfer (19) actually sang “Easy On Me” by Adele with “Champions League voices”, as Pietro Lombardi said. And Lorent Berisha (19), Sem Eisinger (29) and Felix Gleixner (27) sang “Unchained Melody” (The Righteous Brothers) so beautifully that the alpacas’ fur rippled a little more – with blissful goosebumps.

Otherwise it was planed and shavings flew. “Ten have to go,” Dieter Bohlen had officially increased the pressure in advance. Eliminated are: Vivien Ververgaert (28), Olivia Reichert (22), Svenja Plaumann (23), Lea Bill (19) and Julienne-Selin Faber (16) for the girls. And with the boys Nico Grund, who had just shown himself to be successful as a non-shaker. Bobby Jovanovic (30), who at least has his hair done and is allowed to return home with a trimmed beard, Lukas Becker (22), Julian Hildebrandt (27) and Taro Sperlich (22).

It went on for the others. First in a new accommodation with real walls, real beds and (still) clean toilets. And then to the next round. To be seen on RTL on Saturday.
