Munich – SHE was his mainstay in the jungle camp: Renata!
Papis Loveday (46) needed his large fabric snake not only to cuddle, but also to fight his fear of snakes.
The male model became a big favorite of the RTL show. IKEA Germany also noticed this.
The furnishing giant advertised its own fabric snake on Instagram – with Loveday as a decoy.
“Who already misses the jungle: DJUNGELSKOG, hand puppet, snake 14.99 euros.”
Above it is: “For some it’s a test of courage, for others a luxury item – right, PAPIS LOVEDAY?”
►His name has now disappeared, but Loveday still has a cold. He told BILD: “When fans suddenly asked me that they bought my fabric snake from IKEA and at the same time friends congratulated me on the advertising contract with the furniture manufacturer, I was very surprised. IKEA probably gave the impression that you could buy my snake. But that’s not correct.”
And further: “Actually, this is a funny gag. But it’s also bold to use me here. And not even asking if that’s okay. There is only one Renata, and that is mine!”
►A spokeswoman for IKEA: “Basically, it is common for users to address and tag each other on social media such as Twitter or Instagram. IKEA’s communication on social media is based on contemporary and current topics. Taking up these topics and connecting them with the IKEA range is everyday practice for us. So far, both users and the people we have spoken to have been happy about this. We learned from a message from the management of Papis Loveday last week that IKEA did not want him to be linked. Since we naturally respect this wish, we immediately removed the link from the post.”
