It’s common knowledge that you can’t use an Apple Watch without an iPhone: Although the computer watch has been on the market since 2015, Apple hasn’t changed that yet. But other devices are also deeply linked to the Apple ecosystem, which can put users off a freshly purchased product. The example of the Apple TV multimedia box is currently doing the rounds. In several cases, this can only be kept up to date if you have an iOS or iPadOS device.
Apple ID “Update”: Not without my iPhone
Apple ID update example: From time to time, Apple requires its users to update their account. However, if you only have an Apple TV set but no other Apple hardware, this becomes impossible, as reported by 9to5Mac.

New terms and conditions for iCloud not agreeable
Another Apple TV problem went viral on Twitter on Monday: the user @hugelgupf from Switzerland cannot agree to the new iCloud terms and conditions without an iPhone or iPad. “I own an Apple TV. I don’t own any other Apple devices. Not one.” Now, every time the user starts his multimedia box, he is asked to agree to the new “iCloud Terms and Conditions”. “This requires a device running iOS 16 or later or iPadOS 16 or later.” As mentioned, @hugelgupf does not have either.
At the moment, the Apple TV can still run as usual, but it is possible that Apple users who do not agree to the new terms and conditions will promptly turn off access. It is also interesting that the devices with which consent can be given must run with the current operating system generation, which may force the owners to update. However, problems with incorrect versions occur again and again at Apple. Most recently, the improved iCloud data protection in connection with HomePods with old firmware made a name for itself.
