The president Dina Boluarte awarded this Wednesday a peremptory term and one six-month fine amnesty for foreigners in irregular immigration statusa condition that occurs when their term of stay granted by Migration expires or when they enter the country without immigration control.
“will be awarded a peremptory term which will be approved by resolution of the Superintendence of Migrations. This regularization may also be applied to foreigners who entered regularly, but for various reasons their condition has now gone from regular to irregular, or to those foreigners who entered without immigration control,” announced the president, accompanied by some ministers.
“This measure will allow us to regularize and identify foreigners who are in an irregular situation and encourage formality in immigration control and the labor market, avoiding human trafficking, exploitation, among others (illicit),” he continued.
boluarte It also reported the approval of an autograph of the law “that regularizes and updates the immigration situation by waiving fines” so that “foreign persons regularize their situation and update their information before the immigration authority.”
“The amnesty only has a period of six monthswe will not be tolerant and it only applies to foreigners who entered regularly and (their situation) has become irregular,” he added.
The initiatives were agreed during the Council of Ministers, in which a supreme decree was also approved that modifies the migration regulations “so that foreigners who entered without immigration control can register via regularization.”
Similarly, the Government declared a State of Emergency in all its border areas with Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil and Chile to increase migration control. The measure covers Tumbes, Piura, Cajamarca, Amazonas, Loreto, Madre de Dios, Tacna and Puno, where this exceptional regime is already in force due to the protests.
Boluarte added that the National Police (PNP) will maintain “control of internal order, with the support of the Armed Forces.” On his side, the Minister of Defense, Jorge Chávez, pointed out that the objective of the declaration of emergency is to “prevent irregular and illegal entry” into the national territory.
With this, the constitutional rights related to the inviolability of the home, freedom of transit through the national territory, freedom of assembly and personal freedom and security are restricted or suspended.
