Sonora.- The main line of investigation into the disappearance of IMSS doctor Carlos Ignacio Ríos in Cajeme, Sonora, was linked to a patient with whom the doctor allegedly had a relationship, reported Prosecutor Claudia Indira Contreras.
The head of the unit revealed that due to the disappearance of Carlos Ignacio on January 17, they are investigating a 22-year-old patient, who supposedly would have seen the 29-year-old ER for the last time before he disappeared.
“The relationship with this woman began with medical treatment and, over time, became closer,” the agency explained.
“Prior to his disappearance, the victim would go to meet said person.”
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, she managed to gather evidence confirming that the doctor was going to meet with her, that is, they have a date, place and time at which both would coincide.
In the mornings, Carlos Ignacio worked at the IMSS and taught at a private university, and in the afternoons he worked at the San José private clinic, in the Colonia Centro.
It was when he left there, on January 17, that his relatives indicated that he was going to meet a woman in Plaza Sendero, located on the Obregón-Navojoa Highway.
However, the alleged suspect assured the relatives that he had stood her up and that she did not hear from him until before 9 at night.
“We have her phone, we were texting with her and she says that she heard from him until before 9 at night and after that she didn’t know anything, that he stood her up and no longer answered,” Jaqueline told local media. Rios, sister of Carlos Ignacio.
The day after the doctor’s disappearance, Cajeme Municipal Public Security officers found his vehicle on a piece of land located between the streets of Antilla and Altamira, in the Las Misiones neighborhood, eight minutes away from the shopping center.
The vehicle showed no signs of violence.
“With the test data obtained at this time, we are in a position to request an arrest warrant that allows progress to be made to clarify the facts,” the Prosecutor concluded.
