More and more content that is not suitable for a large audience is entering Disney +. The first “R-rated” films (not recommended for minors unaccompanied by adults when viewing) to appear on Disney+ are Dead Pool, Deadpool 2 and Logan. Films that have absolutely not been designed for a young audience, which show that Disney + seems to be evolving out of its place as a streaming platform for the whole family.

He let it be known that the American juggernaut was listening and understands this request to have productions that are not made for the family. He still wanted to point out that the productions of children’s animations would remain the heart of the platform. Following the arrival of these three R-rated films last summer, Disney wanted to reassure families by allowing them to have more effective parental controls, to avoid coming across inappropriate titles. Even if the base of productions for the family remains solid, is embarking on the adventure of more mature titles a good decision for the platform? Disney+ was able to pick up the Marvel series that were streaming on Netflix. A watered-down version that already seems to appeal to lead actor Charlie Cox, but isn’t to all fans’ tastes. Some see it as a backpedal in Disney’s actions to enlarge its audience, and others do not appreciate this evolution in the treatment of the character. As a reminder, the series is scheduled for spring 2024 and is called Daredevil: Born Again. Perhaps this is a way for the American firm to make a compromise between this family aspect and the desire to welcome more mature productions. In any case, Disney + sees bigger to affirm its imposing aura in the field of streaming and to perpetuate itself.
