A dispute between a couple in the Rhön-Grabfeld district escalated so much during the night from Thursday (April 13, 2023) to Friday (14) that a 29-year-old woman stabbed her husband with a knife. This was announced by the Lower Franconia police on Tuesday.

The husband was able to leave the apartment with serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. The police temporarily arrested the 29-year-old and brought her before the investigating judge on the orders of the public prosecutor.

According to the current status of the investigation, there was a violent verbal argument between the couple on Thursday evening. This culminated in the woman grabbing a kitchen knife around 12:50 a.m. and injuring her husband in the upper body. Shortly after her partner had left the apartment seriously injured, the 29-year-old herself alerted the police.

A patrol from the Bad Neustadt police station was able to find the injured 35-year-old near the shared apartment. After providing first aid, the emergency services took him to a hospital.

The 29-year-old suspect was temporarily arrested in the apartment and was brought before the investigating judge on Saturday. He followed the request of the public prosecutor’s office in Schweinfurt and issued an arrest warrant on the strong suspicion of attempted manslaughter. The woman was then taken to a prison.

The couple’s two small children were taken into the care of the youth welfare office.
