The family of DJI stabilizers is growing with a new entry-level model available for all customers who would like to make video with their camera without having to go through the purchase of a high-priced professional quality accessory. . The new DJI RS 3 Mini thus occupies an important place alongside the RS 3 and RS 3 Pro released last year.

It would be 50% lighter than the Pro model, yet in carbon fiber reminiscent of the brand, but also more compact. DJI’s argument: despite everything, it recovers the image stabilization algorithm of the RS 3 Pro. Of course, it does not carry with it the same components such as the LiDAR Range Finder sensor, which makes it possible to manage the development by promising 43,200 measurement points within 14 m, of its big brother.

Bluetooth connection

At less than 2 kg, the nacelle can carry many consumer devices. On its site, it is possible to compare according to the versions of the stabilizer to find out which cameras are compatible according to their weight. DJI takes several examples: Sony A7S3 +24-70mm F2.8 GM or the Canon EOS R5 + RF24-70mm F2.8 STM. Note that the full autonomy of the DJI RS 3 Mini is 10 hours, compared to 12 hours for the RS 3 Pro. Recharging from 0 to 100% takes 2 hours and 30 minutes according to official measurements.

Among the other elements retained from the rest of the range, we note the small control screen. It is 1.4 inches this time, against 1.8 inches on the other models, but offers the same possibilities of very useful shortcuts to be able to quickly change modes. Also, the stabilizer is connected via Bluetooth with compatible cameras. This gives the DJI RS 3 Mini one-handed camera control, without the user having to touch the camera before or after shooting.
