Julia Yachi (37) learned to harvest and raise animals at the age of five, in Huancavelica. For her there is nothing impossible, she always manages to bring money to her house and support her four children. When she arrived in Lima, she sold breakfasts and now she is part of the fruit team at the Tierra Prometida Market in Santa Anita.

“In summer what is sold the most is papaya for salads and juices. Thanks to my fruits I raise my children. Everything is worth it for them, I get up at 2 in the morning and sometimes I don’t even sleep”, the mommy comments.

All for your children

The dream of Janet Rodríguez (39) was to be an initial teacher, but due to her economic situation she had to go to work from a very young age. In her native Satipo (Junín) she helped to harvest oranges and bananas while she studied at school. She decided to come to Lima just four months ago so that her two children have a better future. They help her in the business.

“My family was very humble and we didn’t have enough to study a career, that’s why I want another reality for my children. I sell fruits because all my life I have dedicated myself to this. I love talking to clients. These days we serve as ‘Mama Noelas’ to amuse them, ha ha ha”, comments Janet.
