“The messages from the Petro Government greatly affected the volatility of the currency. The movement of the exchange rate responds to expectations, flows and demands and is sensitive to announcements or pronouncements by, in this case, the president or officials and that during the first semester the president’s announcements generated certain uncertainties and concerns among investors, in such a way that these concerns were reflected in a very high risk premium for the country and in a weaker peso”, he stated.

“All these announcements, more than political actions, generated a panorama of more uncertainty and this was reflected in the exchange rate that in Colombia was devalued against other currencies of similar countries”; she insisted.

“The dollar in Colombia has been a great indicator of risk in the country and it is clear that Petro represents a risk precisely because of its way of thinking, because of what it thinks of hydrocarbons, that what generates the most tax revenue for the country, for his way of being, for the ministers he appoints who do not have the capacity, for the statements, for the lack of communication. It has put a lot of volatility on the dollar, it has made many Colombians take out their money and few foreigners want to come and invest”, Moreno Jaramillo specified.
